Kate McRostie is an American fine art artist whose life began on an artistic platform. At the age of 8 months, she was already spending time on a hand painted chair for hours a day. Having supportive parents, they ensured that she got what she needed to hone her painting skills. This included formal drawing and painting from her grade school through high school. Being in a military family that traveled a lot, Kate got immersed in different cultures and saw varied landscapes that would later feature in her works. These have provided inspirations for her art. She went to Atlanta University in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After her degree, she started a decorative painting business. As if fate had it for her, Kate got married to a military officer as well. That also meant more traveling. After her husband left active duty, they settled in San Diego, California, where she started a decorative business. In 1998, she decided to explore art licensing due to the growing demand for her art. Her licensing journey began during the 1998 Licensing Show in New York City. Her list of licensees has grown over the years to include some of the world's most reputable manufacturers.
Kate’s style also includes a clear display of colors and textures of Normady, Provence and Tuscany. Her powerful ability to use her artistic style and combine it with latest home trends makes her art very good for home decor. She currently works at a studio in Wilmington, North Carolina. She is the proud founder of McRostie DesignWorks, Inc. through which she does a lot of her business. Kate confesses that her inspiration comes, first from God, and then life, nature, and the people around her.
